President

Suzy Savanick graduated from Youngstown State University in 1991 with a degree in Applied Science Technology. As a member of the Tri-County component were she has served as Vice President, Treasurer, delegate and Trustee. Suzy has served ODHA as Secretary, ODONTIA Editor, ADHA Alternate Delegate and Delegate, Member Services Chair and Student Council Chair. She also received the ODHA Outstanding Effort Award in 2004. Suzy continues to work one Saturday a month for a general dentist and also subs for other area dental offices.

Immediate President

Gretchen Matty graduated from Lima Technical College (now James A. Rhodes State College) in 1998 where she earned an Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. She also attended the Ohio State University from 1993-95 with 73 credit hours completed towards her BS degree from Ohio State University . As a member of the Northwestern Component she has served as Secretary (1 term), President-Elect (two terms), President ( two terms), Delegate (4 terms). Currently she is the Membership chair (5th yr.) and the Newsletter Editor (5th yr.). At the state level, Gretchen served two terms on the Annual Session Planning Council, two terms as Vice President and most recently as Pres.-Elect. Currently she serves on the Finance Committee (3rd yr.), the Administrative Assistant Review Committee(3rd yr.), and on the Administrative Planning Council (3rd yr.). On the national level, Gretchen was unfunded at the 1998 ADHA Annual Session, then funded Alternate Delegate in 2005, and in 2006 a Delegate to ADHA Annual Session. She currently practices clinical dental hygiene full time in Paulding/Antwerp.

President Elect

Jeanne Huber is a member of the Dayton component. She is originally from Cleveland and graduated from Magnificat High School in Rocky River. She attended Kent State University for two years. She earned a Certificate of Dental Hygiene and BA in sociology from Ohio State University in 1970, and returned for AQP in 1989 and Local Anesthetic in 2007. She was licensed and practiced in Texas for five years and in Dayton for almost 30 years. Seventeen years were in private periodontal practice. In the Dayton component she was Continuing Ed Chair and is now Legislative Contact. For ODHA she has served as Secretary two years, and as a member of the Executive Council also on the Ad Planning Council, Finance Committee and Government Relations Committee. In 2007 she was awarded the Margie A. Pearce Aspiring Professional Award. In 2001 she was fortunate to travel to China with a group of US hygienists for a professional and cultural exchange with Chinese dental professionals. She has greatly enjoyed meeting hygienists across the country at the past six ADHA Annual Sessions. In 2006 and 2007 Jeanne attended as an unfunded alternate delegate, and in 2008 will be a Delegate. She currently works in private general practice in Dayton.

Angie Pavicic is a member and currently the President of our Cleveland component. She has also served as an Alternate Delegate, Delegate, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary Vice President and President-Elect. She graduated from Cuyahoga Community College in 1993 with an Applied Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene. Angie currently practices clinical Dental Hygiene in Westlake. Angie led Cleveland to first place in the O-Hy-Pac component challenge in 2005. She attended ADHA’s Annual Session in Orlando as an unfunded alternate delegate and served as a page in The First House of Delegates. Angie also received the Margie A. Pearce, Aspiring Professional Award at the 2006 ODHA’s Annual Session.

Secretary

Joan Gibson-Howell is a member of the Columbus component and is currently serving as the Student Liaison with Ohio State University Dental Hygiene Students. Joan received an Associate Degree in Dental Hygienef from West Liberty State College a Bachelor of Science in Dental Auxiliary Teacher Education from the University of North Carolina, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Dayton, and a Doctoral Degree in Education – Curriculum and Instruction from West Virginia University. Joan has served ODHA as a Trustee, Secretary, Alternate Delegate (twice), and as a delegate from ODHA to ADHA.

Treasurer

Barb Ringle graduated with an Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from The Ohio State University. She received a Bachelors of Science in Allied Health from Baldwin Wallace College and a Masters in Education from Cleveland State University. Barb worked in private practice as a clinical dental hygienist for 10 years and has been a full-time dental hygiene faculty member at Cuyahoga Community College since 1982. Barb has been active in the Cleveland component as President, Trustee, and SADHA advisor.

Speaker of the House

Mary Barry Herrmann graduated from Scioto Technical College (now Shawnee State University) in the first class, 1973. She is a charter member of the Southern Ohio Dental Hygienists' Association, currently serving as Co-President and Secretary. She has continually held an office since 1973. Mary has served in many capacity at the constituent level, Speaker of the House, Vice President, Annual Reports Chairperson, Student Member Co-Chair, Liason to ODA Annual Session Committee, Trustee and ADHA Delegate, Senior member of the Dental Hygiene Academy. She has been an active, practicing clinical dental hygienist since 1973, currently employed (for the past 25 years) with Dr. Stephen Fitzer in Portsmouth, Ohio. She previously served as a part time faculty member of Shawnee State University. She has been awarded the Silver Star Award from Shawnee State University for Outstanding Alumni and the ODHA Service Award. Mary is married to Steve Herrmann (for almost 38 years) and they are the proud parents of four children and the Pap and Goose to 6 grandchildren. Mary has also served as a School Board member for the Notre Dame Catholic School System in Portsmouth for 14 years, serving as Secretary and as President during that time.

ODONTIA Editor
|
Susan Bartoo graduated in 1997 with an A.S. in Dental Hygiene from Indiana University School of Dentistry, a B.S in Health Professions from Kettering College of Medical Arts, and a Masters in Education from the University of Cincinnati. She has practiced dental hygiene in the Dayton area for 10 years and is currently Adjunct Faculty at Sinclair Community College. This is Sue’s second year serving ODHA as the ODONTIA Newsletter Editor, as a member of the Student Council Committee, and as an unfunded delegate to the ADHA. In 2007 Sue received the ADHA/Johnson & Johnson Linda DeVore Leadership Scholars Program Award, and the ODHA Global Outreach Award.

Senior Delegate to ADHA

Linda Hewetson received an Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from Lima Technical
College in 1982. She practices dental hygiene full time in Lancaster,
Ohio where she also manages the dental hygiene department. Her most
recent professional achievement is completing the local anesthesia
training from Dr. Stanley Malamed at Lorain County Community College, in
March 2007. She enjoys practicing her new skill since passing the NERB
and encourages all Ohio RDH to take advantage of this opportunity ASAP!!!
Linda stays very busy with her ODHA commitments by serving as Senior
Delegate to ADHA, as well as chair of the Member Services Council and
sponsorship chair for the Total Development Weekend 2008 Council.
